This house is particularly representative of the architectural practice developed by Raphaëlle Segond, whose individual houses offer to live in symbiosis with nature thanks to their great openness to the landscape and their spaces bathed by natural light and the seasons. Here she signs a minimalist volume with clean oblique lines, whose cleverly framed openings on the landscape offer a constant sunshine of interior spaces as well as a passive solar input. The body of the villa follows the slope of the land and the layout of the reception areas in height allows the inhabitants to benefit from the exceptional panoramic view on the sea and the hills of the Trois Secs, while the night area in ground floor preserves the intimacy of the rooms. The architect opted for a palette of raw and mineral materials, whose patina will only embellish over time and the action of the sun, wind and rain.

After graduating in 1989, Raphaëlle Segond was a project manager at the Ricciotti agency from 1992 to 1998, where she notably directed the Seyne-sur-Mer school group (1994) and the science faculty of Luminy (1998).

This project allowed him to open his own agency in 2000. She continues her collaboration with the agency Ricciotti, notably in the context of the creation of the National Choreographic Center of Aix-en-Provence, the “Black Pavilion”, inaugurated in 2006.

Attentive to the history and context of each place and each sponsor, Raphaëlle Segond surrounds herself with experienced craftsmen and trusted engineers to produce custom-made architectures.

Between 2008 and 2014, Raphaëlle Segond taught at the School of Architecture in Marseille and developed a teaching program around the constraints and conditions of the implementation of the architectural project.

Since 2012, she has been acting as a commune council for CAUE 13 and has just been appointed as the state’s consulting architect (since the end of April 2023). Driven by the desire to share knowledge and know-how, she works to anchor the profession of architect in a collaborative practice, creating tools to make the profession more accessible and inclusive, and identify new markets to create opportunities for the profession.
