Experiencing total art
The “nouille” style of Paris’s metro kiosks, buildings decorated with floral or vegetal motifs, ceramics and furniture in curved forms… Art Nouveau evokes an organic world where art and craft converge in an original synthesis. At the turn of the 20th century, architects and artists used new materials from industry, such as metal, to design a wide variety of structures combining glass, brick and stone, in the manner of a total art.
Hector Guimard is one of its most famous representatives, alongside the Belgian Victor Horta and the young Henri Sauvage in France. Their creations reflect a rich aesthetic universe that has become part of our collective imagination and has a strong heritage value, making their owners true art collectors.
