Embracing the ideal of modern life
In the 1920s, the Bauhaus and Le Corbusier inaugurated a functional architecture that made a radical break with historical styles: far beyond the standardised concrete to which it is sometimes reduced, the modern movement is above all a testament to the creativity of its architects, who wanted to design an aesthetic of their time. Concrete, stone, brick and glass were all used in this movement, which revolutionised the way domestic spaces were designed.
