Description
A contemporary house above the valley
This striking contemporary house, with its flowing, aerodynamic lines emerging from the hillside, is the work of JDS Architects, designers of Oslo’s famous Holmenkollen ski jump.
The house offers 115 m2 of living space on two levels.
The upper level features a light, bright 45 m2 reception area with triple orientation, comprising a lounge, dining area and open kitchen.
It is extended at the front by a 20 m2 terrace overlooking the valley, and at the rear by a second 25 m2 terrace opening onto a garden sheltered by tall fir trees. The more intimate lower level houses the entrance hall, 3 bedrooms opening onto the garden, two shower rooms with walk-in showers and a storeroom.
It’s located in the heart of the Haut-Jura region, 5 hours by car from Paris, 30 minutes from Vallorbe TGV station and 40 minutes from Geneva airport. Backed by the Risoux massif, it overlooks the Orbe valley within the Les Rousses ski resort near the Swiss border. Residents can enjoy a wide range of winter and summer activities (cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, ice skating, hiking, trail running, roller skiing, cycling, canoeing, etc.).
Architecture integrated into the landscape
Set on a 1,390 m2 sloping plot, the house features a 45 m2 planted roof terrace that levitates above the valley, offering a 360° panoramic view of the Risoux forest, Orbe valley and Lac des Rousses. Its metal-clad concrete lines emerge from the ground in harmonious curves, blending into the slope of the land.
The living spaces enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape thanks to a glass wall whose design follows the slope. The house’s wide windows face south-east to maximize sunlight.
