Frédérique Pyra, who specializes in the architecture of single-family homes, pays particular attention to the particularities of the site (sloping ground, views over the landscape). This interest in the “genius of place” is accompanied by a modernist inspiration, with the creation of simple surfaces and open spaces that blend harmoniously into the Mediterranean landscape.
In 1989, Frédérique Pyra graduated from the Ecole Nationale d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville, where she wrote a dissertation under the direction of Bernard Huet on “Maisons d’été à Mahdiya, en Tunisie”. She began her career in Paris with Patrick Berger, where she worked until 1991, before becoming agency manager for Rudy Ricciotti, winner of the Grand Prix National d’Architecture in 2006. During this collaboration, she designed a seaside house oriented towards the coast. She left the agency in 2008.
As project manager, she took part in the construction of the MUCEM in Marseille and the Pavillon de l’Islam at the Louvre. In 2008, she became a freelance architect in Hyères, focusing on the construction of single-family homes on and around the Côte d’Azur, where she developed the concept of the seaside villa.
In 2018, she won first prize from the public at the 5th edition of Archinovo for the Villa C3 she built in Hyères.
