Awards ceremony – Archinovo 2022

On the evening of Tuesday 15 November in Paris, in the hall of Lafayette Anticipations – Fondation Galeries Lafayette, the Archinovo 2022 Prize was awarded. A great opportunity for the Architecture de Collection agency to bring together its network of architects, partners, collectors and friends… united by the same passion: architecture!

The first architecture prize dedicated to contemporary homes

Created in 2011 by Delphine Albouker, architect and co-founder of Architecture de Collection, the Prix Archinovo showcases current developments in individual housing. Every two years, it honours the inventiveness of the French scene through a selection of innovative and sustainable projects.

Prestigious partners 

The Prize benefits from the support of many public partners who were present at the evening: L’Ordre des Architectes, Le Pavillon de l’Arsenal, La Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, and L’Institut Français. 

It also relies on a number of media partners and sponsors, including the magazine AD, Le Figaro, Ateliers Lofts & Associés or Habitat, which promote the cultural and media influence of the award.

Aurélien Vernant, director of the Architecture de Collection agency, welcomed the 150 guests, introduced the ceremony and thanked the architects, the members of the jury and all the partners; he emphasised the architectural and heritage value of the Lafayette Anticipations site, an industrial building rehabilitated by Rem Koolhaas (OMA) in the heart of the Marais, and made available for the Prix Archinovo thanks to our partner Citynove.

A unique exhibition space

Theexhibition of the seven winning 2022 projects has been designed in partnership with thea brand Papier Français, specialising in the creation of striking, modern and contemporary wallpapers. The winning architects were able to select a historic motif from the Papier Français stamped Bibliothèque Nationale de France collection, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, and reinterpret it usinga colour chart.

Architects honoured at the ceremony

The members of the jury presented the seven winners with their trophies. 

This year, two agencies tied for the People’s Choice Award, presented by Delphine Albouker: Orma Architettura, for the Casa S, a villa in Bonifacio, with minimalist lines in concrete left roughcast; PRAX Architectes and Mathieu Lolagne, for the Maison BJ1, a wooden project set on stilts and overlooking the Ganguise lake, in the Aude region.

The Grouped and Alternative Housing Award was presented by Pascale Bartoli, architect and art historian, and awarded to YUA Studio d’Architecture for the transformation of a former metal workshop into residential units, where raw materials such as oak, corten steel, or terrazzo help to energise the living space.

The Rehabilitation & Extension Trophy, presented by Lydéric Veauvy, architect, went to jaq, for the splendid rehabilitation and transformation of a 1970s pavilion, and JAVA Architecture, for the spectacular restructuring and elevation of a house in Paris.

Writer and critic Philippe Tretiack awarded the Jury’s Special Mention to Bodenez and Le Gal La Salle for their Maison Terre project. This restructuring, with its adobe walls, is a fine adaptation to today’s environmental challenges, linked to the renovation and evolution of suburban housing in the second half of the 20th century.

Finally, the Jury’s Grand Prix, presented by Julie Fernandez, national councillor at the Ordre des Architectes, was awarded to ARBA for their family home, L’Onde, featuring an overhanging, double-sloped zinc roof. Aurélien Vernant, before concluding, presented the 2019 Grand Prix (the awards evening had been cancelled due to Covid) to architect Lydéric Veauvy of TANK architects, who distinguished himself by presenting a sustainable wooden house that blends in perfectly with the surrounding nature.

The cocktail party, an opportunity to exchange ideas about architecture

Guests were then invited to a cocktail reception, prepared by Café Mātēr ; they were able to taste wines donated by Terra Remota, a ecological winery of exception, located in Catalonia, partner of Architecture de Collectionand the Archinovo Prize.

In addition to the owners of the winning homes and many architects, also in attendance were Nicolas Libert, co-founder of our agency, and the entire team at Architecture de Collection including Noël Castinel, head of our Southern branch in Marseille.

The evening was also an opportunity for Delphine Albouker to present her recently published book, Maisons Rêvées : 40 maisons d’architectes made in France (Éditions Gallimard – Collection Alternatives), which showcases houses selected as part of Archinovo since its inception, valuing the architect’s contribution to the construction of single-family homes in France.
