Description
A contemporary villa on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez
Set in a setting of holm oaks and pines overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, this contemporary villa was designed by Atelier Donjerkovic Architectes. Located close to the famous Villa Vent d’Aval, built by Pierre Chareau in 1928, this project is in keeping with the history of the Domaine de Beauvallon, marked by a resolutely modern architectural style.
Set in landscaped grounds of 3,000 m², the villa spans 225 m² over two levels.
The entrance hall leads to the terrazzo-floored living room, comprising a lounge, a large open-plan fitted kitchen and a dining room. A sliding glass wall opens the entire space onto an outdoor terrace with summer lounge and garden. From the terrace, a path of stones laid in the grass leads to the swimming pool.
A second lounge with office area completes the reception area.
The bedroom wing houses three suites with en suite bathrooms and direct access to the garden. Upstairs are two further suites with bedroom and bathroom, one of which opens onto a large terrace with pergola.
The villa also has a storeroom, a laundry room and a double garage.
The wooded garden has been tastefully landscaped. The flowerbeds form broad curves that play with the shifting shade of the trees throughout the day, and interact with the minimalist lines of the contemporary buildings.
The property is sold furnished.
The villa enjoys a privileged setting in the Domaine de Beauvallon, located on the Bay of Saint-Tropez, 10 minutes by car from Port Grimaud, 30 minutes from Saint-Tropez and 1 hour from Nice Côte-d’Azur airport.
Within walking distance of the Domaine beaches and bordering the Beauvallon golf course, the house offers privileged access to the estate’s services and sporting activities: tennis courts, yoga club, water sports, horse-riding, cycle paths and coastal walks…
Loti from 1925 to the 1960s, the prestigious Domaine de Beauvallon is home to several houses designed by renowned architects, including the liner-like Villa Vent d’Aval, designed by architect Pierre Chareau in 1927, and the famous Villa Seynave, designed by engineer Jean Prouvé in 1962 (listed as a Historic Monument in 1993). The Beauvallon golf clubhouse was also designed by Pierre Chareau in 1929. The Beauvallon chapel, built when the estate was designed, is preceded by a bust of Emile Bernheim (1851-1930), the estate’s founder, sculpted by the artist Chana Orloff.
Architecture and farniente
Located between Pierre Chareau’s Villa Vent d’Aval and Jean Prouvé’s Villa Seynave, this project offers a contemporary design and an overall composition in dialogue with its immediate surroundings. Its dark, minimalist volumes, close to the ground, stretch discreetly through the oak grove, leaving plenty of room for the dazzling silhouette of the neighbouring Villa Vent d’Aval.
The choice of an L-shaped floor plan effectively separates the living spaces from the private areas, making this an ideal holiday and reception residence. The large expanses of glass immerse the interior spaces in the Mediterranean landscape and provide generous amounts of natural light. The linear interior corridors form a looped path leading to the first floor, punctuated by a series of framed natural scenes.
