Description

The house and studio of artist Françoise Pétrovitch

Located on the outskirts of Paris, this property includes an early 20th-century stone house adjacent to a large contemporary studio, blending heritage and artistic creation in a tree-filled garden.

The 234 m² main house is organized over several levels.
The ground floor opens onto an entrance hall leading to a nearly 40 m² living room, a semi-open kitchen, a dressing room, and direct access to a terrace overlooking the garden.

The first floor features a landing serving a bedroom, a 30 m² lounge that can also be used as an office or master bedroom, a shower room, and a separate toilet.

The second floor offers a night area with two bedrooms, an office, a bathroom, a separate toilet, and storage spaces.

The basement provides additional spaces, including a laundry room, a bedroom with a toilet, a workshop, an office, and a cellar.

A spacious 156 m² studio complements the property. Independent yet directly connected to the house, it includes a large workspace, a mezzanine, a toilet, a basement storage area, and a ground-floor bedroom.

Outside, a 438 m² tree-filled garden features a garden shed and a garage.

Just steps from the town center of Cachan, the property enjoys all amenities: shops, markets, schools, cultural facilities (theater, media library, cinema), and green spaces such as Parc Raspail, just a stone’s throw away.

The house is also well-served by public transport, with the RER B just a six-minute walk away, reaching central Paris in 15 minutes. Cachan will soon be served by Metro Line 15, dedicated to mobility in the Parisian suburbs.

Francilian tradition and contemporary architecture

The property is defined by the encounter of two distinct yet complementary architectural styles.

The original house reflects the tradition of early 20th-century Île-de-France villas. This type of construction is characterized by stone walls, giving the façade a rich texture and strong identity. The architecture here expresses a taste for ornamentation influenced by Art Nouveau.

Adjacent to the house is a studio that asserts a different, resolutely contemporary language. The building stands out with its simple geometry, clean lines, and minimalist design.

Its volumes are generous and widely open to the outdoors through large floor-to-ceiling windows and ribbon windows. Natural light is omnipresent and even, making these spaces ideal for fluid artistic practice. The flat roof and varying ceiling heights contribute to the studio’s spatial dynamism, offering multiple perspectives and great modularity.

The layout on the plot encourages interaction with the tree-filled garden. This indoor-outdoor relationship enhances the usability of the space, designed as an environment dedicated to artistic production.
