A neighbor of the famous Spiral House built in 1952, the Norman Lykes was designed in 1959 for Norman and Aimee Lykes by Frank Lloyd Wright and built by his pupil John Rattenbury in 1967. Also known as the “Circular Sun House”, it blends the characteristics of modern Californian architecture and the “Paquebot” style, and unfurls its curved lines against the mountainside in the desert landscape surrounding the city of Phoenix, Arizona.

The villa is typical of Frank Lloyd Wright’s late work, which moves away from the orthogonal modernist model. It features a composition of concentric circles scaled to the landscape, in line with the architect’s organic approach to architecture. The building is integrated into the rugged topography of the site specifically chosen by the architect, perfectly following its contours.

The interiors are enlivened by curves and panoramic bay windows offering 180° unobstructed views of Phoenix and the mountain landscape. Luxurious integrated mahogany furniture adorns the various spaces, which have also retained iconic furniture pieces designed by the architect, such as Taliesin armchairs and Barrel chairs.
