A weekend in Marseille for the Architecture de Collection team

By 5 September 2024No Comments

This summer, Architecture de Collection joined the ‘Cercle des Mécènes’ of Art-o-rama, the famous contemporary art fair in Marseille. From 29 August to 1 September, our Southern team, accompanied by our co-founder Nicolas Libert, had the privilege of taking part in Art-o-rama’s VIP programme organised between Marseille and Arles.

Art-o-rama: the must-see contemporary art event of the autumn

Since 2007, Art-o-Rama has been showcasing emerging national and international art galleries and artists. After initiating a partnership for the 2022 edition of the fair, our agency was honoured to join the Cercle des Mécènes this year.

The fiftieth anniversary of the Villa Benkemoun

The VIP programme kicked off on Thursday 29 August with a brunch in the gardens of the Villa Benkemoun in Arles. Fair VIPs were invited to preview the exhibition “1974 – Past, Present, Future”, conceived by villa owner Brigitte Benkemoun and curator Raphaël Giannesini to mark the fiftieth anniversary of this remarkable site designed by Emile Sala. After a welcome speech from Brigitte Benkemoun, the orchestrator of the anniversary celebrations and editor-in-chief of the publication published to mark the occasion, Raphaël Giannesini presented the exhibition. Aurélien Vernant, director of Architecture de Collection, presented the project of the agency, patron and partner of the event.

The following evening saw the superb opening of the exhibition, attended by almost 250 guests from the worlds of culture, fashion and journalism, as well as political figures, to celebrate the passage of time in this exceptional setting.

Openings, previews and the Art-o-rama Patrons’ Circle

As a sponsor of Art-o-rama, our team was able to preview all the exhibitions and attend the various vernissages and opening evenings in the company of collectors and other members of the Cercle des Mécènes.

A highlight for our Southern team

These events were an opportunity to reunite some of our team, against a backdrop marked by the launch of our new Marseille address within the Unité d’habitation, as well as the opening of a new “Nice & Côte d’Azur” sector.

A photo shoot and a number of high points marked these few days in the Cité phocéenne, including a lunch at the Mucem, followed by a visit to its exhibitions. These included “Passions Partagées”, a unique dialogue between works from the Collection Lambert and the anthropological heritage conserved by the Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée; and the refreshing exhibition “Paysages naturistes” designed by the Villa Noailles, which explores the craze for nudity in nature in contemporary history.
