Description
Claude François’ Former Apartment in a 1960s Building
Located on the top floors of a building from 1961, this penthouse, the last residence of the famous singer, offers an exceptional view of Paris.
This apartment spans a surface area of 72.36 m² (Carrez law). Entry is via the 8th floor, accessible by elevator, followed by an internal staircase leading to the living spaces.
On the upper level, the apartment includes an entrance hall with a closet and bookshelf opening onto a 4 m² balcony, guest toilets, a cross-lit living room with views of the Eiffel Tower, and a 39 sqm open-plan kitchen and dining area leading to a second 4.40 m² balcony.
This second balcony connects to a private rooftop terrace of 62 m² on the 10th floor, offering a stunning 360° view of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower, Sacré Coeur, the Front de Seine, and the forests of western Île-de-France. With no overlooking neighbors, it provides a private retreat in complete intimacy.
The night area includes a south-facing bedroom and a bathroom with a dressing area and separate toilets.
The building is accessible via two entrances.
Renovations are required.
Between Porte de Saint-Cloud and Porte d’Auteuil, this apartment is served by Exelmans station (Line 9), Michel-Ange Molitor station (Lines 9 and 10), and numerous bus lines. The building benefits from a prime location near the Seine, André Citroën Park, and the Beaugrenelle shopping center.
It also offers quick access to the A13 motorway.
Modernity and Rationalism
The apartment is located at the top of a building with modern and understated architecture, recognizable by its vertical windows and minimalist colonnade. On the façade, this functionalist building features a regular geometric framework with ribbon windows. The post-and-beam structure, which frees up interior spaces, allows great flexibility in layout. The attention to detail in finishes, such as stone cladding and the columns marking the first floor, is characteristic of the high-end buildings constructed in the 1960s.

Architecture and Pop Culture
This site has become iconic thanks to its famous former owner; the penthouse was indeed the last residence of Claude François, an international icon of French music and a pioneer of pop culture in France. The apartment, however, was modified after his death in 1978 (the kitchen and bathroom were relocated). The current layout rethinks the distribution of spaces to optimize flow and allow natural light to spread throughout the volume. The apartment is a pleasant living space open to the Parisian panorama.
A plaque commemorating the late singer is engraved on the building’s façade.
