Description
A bright loft set within a listed historic monument
Located in a former factory that has been converted and listed on the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments, this loft offers a total surface area of 110 sqm and benefits from 4-meter-high ceilings.
The entrance opens onto a living area of nearly 70 sqm, featuring a fully equipped open-plan kitchen seamlessly connected to the lounge.
This impressive space benefits from ceiling heights of over 4 meters and abundant natural light, thanks to a full-height glass partition facing southwest. A separate guest toilet completes this level.
Upstairs, the layout is centered around an open mezzanine comprising a spacious bedroom, a home office area, a shower room with toilet, and ample built-in storage. The bedroom also enjoys natural light through the full-height window. This level offers the potential to create a second bedroom.
The loft also benefits from the use of two parking spaces.
The condominium features a bicycle storage room and a shared garden.
Located on the doorstep of Paris, the Manufacture des Œillets is just a few minutes from Mairie d’Ivry metro station (Line 7) and the RER C.
The neighborhood offers all everyday amenities and is also close to green spaces such as Parc des Cormailles.
The Manufacture des Œillets, a converted industrial heritage site
Set within the former Manufacture des Œillets, this loft is part of an industrial complex originally founded in Paris in 1836 and relocated to Ivry-sur-Seine in 1894, the year the main hall was constructed.
In 1913, under the impetus of the American firm United Shoe Machinery Company, a new glass-and-metal building was designed by engineer Paul Sée, inspired by the model of the company’s parent factory in the United States.
Guided by a functionalist approach, the building was conceived to enhance production efficiency : metal frameworks, abundant natural light, and airy volumes were carefully integrated to provide workers with brightness, ventilation, and improved working comfort.
Since industrial operations ceased in the late 1980s, the Manufacture has been adapted to a variety of new uses, including an art center, a graphic arts and architecture school, a theater, storage facilities, and residential spaces. The latter fully benefit from the architectural qualities and vocabulary of the original structure: generous ceiling heights, open-plan layouts, abundant light through glazed façades, and the presence of brick, glass, and exposed metal beams.
This thoughtful rehabilitation highlights the adaptability of the structure and the strong character of the building.
The Manufacture has been partially listed as a Historic Monument since 1996.
