Description

A designer’s gem in the heart of Le Marais

Conceived as a total work of art, this project was designed by architect and designer Jules Brisson in 2024. Its layout stands out for its meticulous attention to material selection and treatment, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.

Located on the fourth and top floor with an elevator, this 68 m² apartment is laid out in a T-shaped floor plan.

The spacious living area, with over 4 meters of ceiling height and exposed beams, features a living room with a wood-burning stove and a dining area. A fully equipped kitchen in brushed stainless steel completes the living spaces.

The night area includes 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, separate toilet, and built-in storage.

Two cellars and an attic provide additional storage space.

This property enjoys a prime location just steps from Place des Vosges, in the highly sought-after 3rd arrondissement of Paris. A vibrant area of the capital where 17th-century façades coexist with contemporary art galleries, museums, and queer cultural venues, Le Marais is a dynamic, lively, and family-friendly neighborhood.

Close to shops, restaurants, schools, and amenities, the apartment is 4 minutes from Chemin Vert station (Line 8), 6 minutes from Bastille (Lines 1, 5, and 8), and 10 minutes from Bréguet-Sabin (Line 5).

Geometry in the service of material

Jules Brisson bases his design project on the dialogue between a checkerboard pattern scattered throughout each space of the apartment and softer, rounded geometric forms. The living room’s okoumé wood paneling, the upholstery of the armchairs, the Portuguese pink marble tiles, and the stove’s tiles coexist with Eero Saarinen’s tulip chairs, the Turbo lamps designed by Louis Weisdorf in the 1960s, and the rubber flooring. The latter is the same as in the famous Maison de Verre by Pierre Chareau (1928-1931), giving this apartment a unique dimension, somewhere between modernity, design history, and invention.

By playing with scales, materials, and textures, the architect has created a true livable work of art, where every room and every detail has been designed or selected with meticulous care, such as the bamboo root handles for cabinets and doors, the wall sconces, and the brushed stainless steel kitchen.
