An iconic landmark of Nice’s modernity : the Majestic Hotel
Designed by Jules Febvre in 1906 and inaugurated in 1908, the Majestic is the largest hotel in Nice. Stretching 175 meters in length, 44 meters in height, and spanning 9 floors, it originally housed up to 500 rooms and luxurious amenities for its time (lounges, restaurants, elevators). Converted into a residence in 1947, it remains one of the most iconic Belle Époque palaces in the city.
Its white stone façades are animated by a play of alternating volumes. Sculpted details—geometric friezes, ironwork, medallions, cornices, among others—enrich its ornamentation and prevent a monolithic appearance.
The common areas and the grand elevator, along with features such as fine woodwork, stone staircases, columns, and geometric stained glass, evoke its lavish past. Inheriting the grandeur of the original salons and galleries, the building retains a generous structure, with wide corridors and majestic halls.
Since 2021, certain parts of the building have been listed as Historic Monuments, cementing its status as an exceptional heritage site.

Jules Febvre
A native Nice architect trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Jules Febvre (1859–1934) left a lasting mark on the city’s architectural landscape upon his return to the region. Versatile and prolific, he designed public buildings, residential complexes, and religious structures, actively contributing to the urban transformation of his time.
Among his works, the Majestic remains one of his most ambitious achievements. This palace, with its monumental scale and refined decorative details, exemplifies his aim to combine urban functionality with Belle Époque elegance.
His work, characterized by mastery of large-scale projects and a keen eye for ornamental detail, embodies the architectural spirit of an era when Nice became a favored resort destination for the international bourgeoisie.
