Description

An apartment with Eiffel Tower views in a modern building designed by Jean Ginsberg and François Heep

Located in one of the capital’s oldest corner buildings, this apartment, presented in impeccable condition, enjoys open views over the Parisian rooftops and the Eiffel Tower.

On the 7th floor, the apartment offers a total surface area of 75,60 sqm.

The entrance opens into a living room with a dining area that leads to a 19 m² northeast-facing terrace. A semi-open, fully equipped kitchen completes the living spaces.

The night area includes a first bedroom with its walk-in closet and access to the terrace, a second bedroom overlooking the courtyard and facing west, as well as a shower room with a toilet.

The apartment’s refined, minimalist spirit allows for great flexibility in layout. Certain original features, such as the stone ledges lining and framing the living room windows and one of the bedrooms, have been carefully preserved.

Among its many assets are breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower and a peaceful, light-filled living environment.

A cellar completes the property.

The building’s rooftop terrace is accessible to co-owners.

The building is located in the 16th arrondissement, just steps away from the Seine, the Beaugrenelle shopping center, and the Maison de la Radio. It is served by Metro Line 10 at Mirabeau, Église d’Auteuil, or Passy stations, and benefits from all amenities, shops, and schools.

A modern reinterpretation of the rotunda building

The second Parisian building by Jean Ginsberg, designed in collaboration with architect François Heep, this reinforced concrete structure clad in stone offers a reinterpretation of the traditional Parisian rotunda building.

Here, the customary rounded corner takes the form of a smooth cylinder, punctuated by horizontal glass panels and crowned with a planted terrace. On either side of this cylinder, the two façades display an inverted geometry. One, at the top of which this property is located, features a solid, substantial grid punctuated by ribbon windows, emblematic of modernist architecture. The other façade, lighter in appearance, is largely opened up by the continuous balconies serving the apartments.

The original program included staff rooms, the caretaker’s apartment, and a shop on the ground floor. The remainder of the building comprised apartments ranging from studios to three-room flats, except for the 7th floor, where Jean Ginsberg had established his architectural practice and personal residence. The top two floors were occupied by a private duplex townhouse.

Jean Ginsberg, a modern architect

Of Polish origin, Jean Ginsberg (1905–1983) belonged to the first generation of modernist architects trained by Robert Mallet-Stevens and Le Corbusier. He studied architecture in France at the École Spéciale d’Architecture, where Robert Mallet-Stevens was then teaching, before joining the studio of Joseph Marrast at the École des Beaux-Arts.

After completing his studies, he worked for several months with Le Corbusier, then with André Lurçat, before opening his own practice in 1930. His training alongside leading avant-garde figures deeply shaped his work, both aesthetically and technically.

The residential buildings he designed in Paris, aimed at an affluent clientele, combined modern façades with new standards of comfort. In the 16th arrondissement, he completed several buildings of assertive modernity together with his associate François Heep.
