Michel Marot architect
Built on the Saint-Barthélemy hill in the 1960s, on the former estate of the Arson family, a wealthy family of merchants, this architectural complex designed by Michel Marot now houses an art school, a contemporary art centre, an artist residency, and research spaces. The Villa Arson is listed as a Historic Monument and holds the Remarkable Contemporary Architecture label.
At the heart of a garden planted with Mediterranean species, this concrete jungle unfolds into a labyrinth of pathways, hanging terraces, patios, and amphitheatres, forming a harmonious dialogue between concrete, Var river pebbles, and the Arson family’s former mansion.
