The 10th anniversary of Le Corbusier’s UNESCO World Heritage Inscription : a commemorative exhibition

Archival documents, drawings, original models, and photographs from the Fondation’s collections reveal the remarkable diversity of the sites, ranging from private housing to administrative and cultural facilities, as well as religious buildings. Located across seven countries (Argentina, Belgium, France, Germany, India, Japan, and Switzerland), they collectively bear witness to Le Corbusier’s lasting influence and international impact on modern architecture.

The exhibition is complemented by documentary films on the Maisons La Roche and Jeanneret, the Cité Frugès, Villa Savoye, the Molitor Apartment Building, and the Duval Factory, directed by Stephan Cornic (Beall Productions).

Ten years on, inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List has strengthened policies for the conservation and enhancement of Le Corbusier’s work, fostering initiatives in interpretation, research, and knowledge dissemination across the seven states and among the managers of the seventeen sites. Faced with shared challenges, they have developed a lasting framework for cooperation.

Rather than simply looking back at the achievements of the past decade, the exhibition adopts a forward-looking perspective, highlighting the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead : continuing restoration projects, advancing scientific research, and developing more accessible and inclusive forms of interpretation.
