“Le Corbusier, Jean Prouv\u00e9 – Close friends from a distance<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”6122″ image_size=”full” animation_type=”entrance” animation=”None” animation_movement_type=”transform_y” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][vc_column_text]An original exhibition on the relationship between two giants of modern architecture, organised by the Mus\u00e9e Pierre-No\u00ebl in Saint-Di\u00e9-des-Vosges, with the support of the Fondation Le Corbusier and the Mus\u00e9e National d’Art Moderne (Centre Pompidou\/Centre de Cr\u00e9ation Industrielle).[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”10″][vc_column_text]Jean Prouv\u00e9 and Le Corbusier were partners in crime, and over the years and throughout their respective careers they developed a fruitful relationship, marked by shared concerns, particularly about housing and the industrialisation of construction to serve all users. The exhibition takes an intimate, chronological look at their exchanges and what emerges from their conception of architecture, their social vision and the way they practised their profession.<\/p>\n

Designed by the famous Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti (1891-1979) in 1927 for the Bouilhet family, the villa combines classic proportions with modernity. A true work of art in its own right, with the architect having designed everything down to the door handles and custom-made furniture, this house is Gio Ponti’s only work in France.<\/p>\n

Guided tour of Villagexpo in Saint-Michel-sur-Orge<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”6140″ image_size=”full” animation_type=”entrance” animation=”None” animation_movement_type=”transform_y” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”center” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][vc_column_text el_class=”small”]Credits: \u00a9 Tom Mannion[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Recently awarded the “Remarkable Contemporary Architecture” label, the Villagexpo in Saint-Michel-sur-Orge was built in 1966 to a master plan by architects Andrault and Parat. 360 houses of 22 different types, designed by leading architects of the day, were built around a central square containing an exhibition hall, a primary school and two teachers’ lodgings built by Jean Prouv\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The project provoked fierce controversy at the time of its construction, due to its gigantic scale and the visual barrier it created on the seafront.<\/p>\n
