This house built on a hillside high above Los Angeles (USA) is one of the earliest creations of architect Richard Neutra (1892 -1970).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Richard Neutra, born in Vienna in 1892, initially trained in architecture in his home town with teachers such as Adolf Loos. It was not until 1923 that he emigrated to the United States. His buildings on American soil, such as the <\/span>Kaufmann Desert House<\/span><\/i> (1946), enabled the Austrian designer to become one of the leading American architects of his generation.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”50″][image_with_animation image_url=”8425″ image_size=”full” animation_type=”entrance” animation=”None” animation_movement_type=”transform_y” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”center” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”50″][vc_column_text]Built between 1927 and 1929 for doctor and naturopath Philip Lovell, the <\/span>Lovell house<\/span><\/i> was innovative in its day both for its modernist architecture and its construction method, shotcrete. With this pioneering architecture in the United States, Richard Neutra was following in the footsteps of Le Corbusier on the Old Continent. Industrialised elements gradually became an integral part of residential architecture, as evidenced by the large bay windows, then a symbol of a new modernity.<\/span><\/p>\n
