Seventies design in Le Pecq

This architect-designed house, located in the private Grandchamp estate in the commune of Le Pecq, was built in 1976 by the Ménager-Villaron-Chollet architectural practice, and has recently been refurbished to reconcile contemporary living with its modernist heritage.

It spans 200 m² over three levels, set in 929 m² of wooded grounds.

On the ground floor, the entrance hall leads into a vast 60 m² living room with lounge and dining room, opening onto a lovely terrace. A central fireplace defines a second 12 m² lounge area. A fitted and equipped kitchen with central island, a shower room and a dressing room complete this level.

Upstairs, the sleeping area has three bedrooms, one of which has a terrace, each with its own bathroom or shower room.

The lower garden level comprises an independent sleeping area with a bedroom, study and shower room.

The house also benefits from a cellar, a garage and a covered car park.

Situated in the heart of the commune of Le Pecq, near Saint-Germain-en-Laye, this house benefits from wooded surroundings, local shops and several bus routes. Paris can be reached in around 30 minutes.

Reinventing the detached house

Built on a sloping site, the house takes advantage of the topography of the location and articulates the building around a number of interlocking volumes on the façade. The whole house is characterised by this geometric approach, highlighted by a sober monochrome.

The interior, meanwhile, offers fluid, open-plan spaces that allow great freedom of layout. Numerous openings of varying sizes complete the composition, providing the right amount of light for each room. The night-time areas are fitted with strip windows to provide soft light, while the common rooms are largely open to the outside.
