Description

The former residence of architect Henry Pottier, Grand Prix de Rome

Located on the top floors of a small building constructed in 1954 by Henry Pottier, this duplex apartment offers stunning views of the brutalist silhouette of the Parc des Princes, the iconic stadium designed by Roger Taillibert in 1967.

This 197 m² duplex (Carrez law) benefits from absolute tranquility and is bathed in sunlight.

The first level includes an entrance hall leading on one side to a 50 m² living area with a cathedral ceiling, illuminated by a large skylight, and a dining room with an open kitchen and pantry, opening onto a 72 m² landscaped terrace, south-facing and with no overlooking neighbors.

On the other side is a 40 m² master suite, consisting of a bedroom with custom-made storage, a dressing room with wooden doors, an office with original furniture and library, and a bathroom with 1950s ceramic tiles.

The upper level, accessed via a suspended wood-and-metal staircase, includes a 28 m² mezzanine designed as a reading and music lounge with a balcony overlooking the terrace, as well as four bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms.

Residents can also enjoy the building’s shared garden.

A double cellar is included with the property.

A garage in the building is available as an option.

The building is ideally located in the Princes-Marmottan neighborhood, in the heart of the 1930s architectural trail of Boulogne-Billancourt, opposite Paris’ 16th arrondissement.

Just steps from Parisian vibrancy and a 20-minute walk from the Trocadéro and its museums, the property is served by the Boulogne Jean Jaurès metro station (line 10).

1950’s spirit

This apartment is distinguished by the spectacular volume of its double-height living room and the sculptural minimalism of its clean lines. The sweeping curve of the mezzanine lends the space a theatrical and majestic atmosphere. The upper-level windows immerse the living area in light and provide an unobstructed view of the Parc des Princes and Paris.

The entire apartment offers modern living comfort thanks to a sensitive renovation that has adapted it to contemporary needs while preserving its original 1950s spirit. Features and furnishings designed by Henry Pottier, such as the custom-made cabinet following the mezzanine’s curve and the airy metal railing of the staircase, have been preserved, as well as period materials like stonework, warm wood paneling in the hallway and the master suite dressing room, and the black ceramics in the bathroom.

Henry Pottier

A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in architecture in 1937, Henry (or Henri) Pottier (1912–2000) won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1944. After World War II, he contributed to reconstruction efforts in the Eure region and taught at the Beaux-Arts.

In 1959, he partnered with architect Raymond Lopez for the redevelopment of the Front-de-Seine area in Paris, promoting a modern urban concept inspired by the Athens Charter: layered uses and vertical constructions to allow more light into homes.

Henry Pottier notably designed the new École Polytechnique campus in Palaiseau in 1970, the new Val-de-Grâce Hospital in Paris in 1980, and the Louis-II Stadium in Monaco in 1981. He was awarded the titles of Knight of the Legion of Honor and Officer of the National Order of Merit.
