Description
A Collector’s Gem in the 6th Arrondissement
This stunning reception apartment, located in a building constructed in 1950, has been fully redesigned and decorated by interior architect and designer Christophe Delcourt in close collaboration with the owner, an art collector.
The only apartment on the 5th-floor landing, it offers a surface area of 204 m² (207.65 m² total area).
The living area includes an entrance, a majestic reception room of approximately 100 m², opening onto a continuous balcony with triple exposure and unobstructed views, a cozy kitchen with a dining area, guest toilets, and a laundry room.
The night area consists of a master suite with a balcony, a dressing room, a gym space, and a bathroom, as well as a second bedroom with a dressing room and a shower room.
At the entrance level, there is a spacious office, fully transparent with its workshop-style glass wall. It could accommodate a third bedroom.
The apartment features plenty of storage and refined custom-made fittings, crafted in various types of wood. Its spaces are bathed in natural light thanks to the large bay windows.
With an elevator.
The building benefits from a privileged and highly sought-after location on Rue du Cherche-Midi in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, in close proximity to Le Bon Marché.
It is served by Paris Metro lines 4, 10, and 12 at the Rennes and Sèvres-Babylone stations.
A Remarkable Renovation
The apartment in its current layout is the result of combining three separate units into one. The entire space underwent a complete and meticulous overhaul, which allowed for the redistribution of its spaces and functions. An old bedroom now serves as the kitchen and dining room. Interior architect Christophe Delcourt’s approach takes into account the building’s historic heritage. The modern “post-and-beam” construction system removes all load-bearing walls, completely freeing the space from layout constraints. The designer takes advantage of this by creating elements that integrate with the 1950s architecture, establishing a series of successive frames, following a cinematic approach to space.
The central library of the living area, designed in oak and travertine, wraps around a load-bearing pillar of the building and partitions the space dynamically with its curved shape. Christophe Delcourt’s designs are crafted from a palette of noble materials, with a focus on wood species. Elm is used in the entrance, along with oak and cork, playing with the colors, grains, and textures of the various woods while exploring the tactile qualities of the material. He pairs these with stretched textiles, especially in the bedrooms, creating a warm atmosphere with great softness.
